Being 17 and having to take a mandatory visit to the emergency room isn't exactly the same thing as impulsively taking a personal day. This teenager was likely scared out of her mind. Even in the midst of her uncertainty, she asked her mother and grandmother to contact her boss on her behalf and explain the situation clearly. Unfortunately, that did not seem to be enough communication for this horrible boss, who went out of his way to express his “sympathy” while chastising the 17-year-old and ultimately firing her for not calling him herself. Talk about a complete lack of a moral backbone!
