    March in the Midwest is not for the faint of heart. One day you're trotting along in the spring air sporting your new cargo shorts, and the next you're shoveling snow off of your driveway. It can be a real boomerang for the spirit. That's why Midwesterners are such agreeable, adaptable people. We've learned to not be too attached to any particular outcome. We just go with the flow, as long as we can have a couple of cold beers while we're going with it. 

    It's a sort of Midwest Mindfulness. We're not monks on the mountaintop, meditating all day, but when the unexpected strikes, we will say "welp" and move on. Isn't that kind of the same thing? We get our aggression out while cheering for sports games, so it doesn't come out anywhere else. Call it the Tao of the Midwestern Dad. Scream obscenities at the television during the playoffs, and smile when you're hit with two feet of snow.
