    Woman refuses to give in to husband's demand to take his last name, he gets his family involved, leading to a dispute: ‘If you really loved me, you’d want to take my name’

    The debate of whether or not women should be pressured to take their husbands' last names has been around for the past few years. It feels old-fashioned that women should change something so fundamental about their identity for no apparent reason, while men never even consider the possibility of doing the same, even though there is no reason why not.

    It makes sense that one family unit would have the same last name, but why does it have to be the husband's? Who made that rule?

    If you scroll down to read my name, you'll notice that I have two last names, and that's because I did not want to give up my last name when I married my husband. My parents had three girls, and I wanted to make sure their family name gets passed on, so I kept it and simply added my husband's name to it, which he was totally on board with it. There's no need to cause any problems where there aren't any.

    Which is why I felt compelled to share the story down below.
