Toxic work practices happen every day and will continue to happen if managers don't start standing up for their employees. Now, the corporate machine is definitely a hypnotizing, enticing one… because, you know, MONEY… but money can't buy you everything. Sure, having a nice title and a C-suite buddy who'll ensure you hit maximum payroll is nice, but if you really care about people, you don't want any of that if you get it the dirty way. This next story is a testament to doing good deeds for the sake of doing good deeds, even if you don't get the result you want.

This team lead was fired after they decided to stand up for the other members of their team, and they did so by putting up a fight against overwork culture and corporate ladder-ing. You do not come by someone willing to sacrifice their own title for the sake of others often, but this story functions to prove that not everyone seeks a robotic, sinister workplace.

This employee was hired on a suspiciously high salary, but they didn't think too much of it. The CEO, they explain, glazed over the fact that the company is terrible in terms of their ethos and work culture, but why would the CEO be transparent about that?
