Okay, hot take perhaps but the passed mother is a little possessive. Not to speak ill of her, but why would she be so obsessed with the idea that her husband should remarry after she passes? Wouldn't she want that her husband would continue without her, and be happy? Of course it's a depressing or sad thought to have, and it's not ideal. But I would hope that my partner could find happiness in his life after me, even if it means to remarry. It seems like he was probably rather young as well. I mean, would she not have remarried if something happened to him? This poor protagonist will have these images of the letter and feelings with her forever.
