I completely agree with the protagonist here. Her parent's party isn't about her, sure. But she doesn't have to help, and she certainly doesn't have to come. It's about setting a standard and boundaries with them. It's nothing more than a cause and effect. If they want to be closer with their daughter, then they'll accept her marriage, her love, and her wife. It's 2025, no one cares about that kind of stuff anymore. What is it, 1950?
