Don't you just envy people like this? People who can look at something ordinary - something most of us wouldn't give a second thought—and see an entire world hidden inside it? I always wonder how they even function in day-to-day life when their minds are constantly transforming the mundane into magic. Vincent Bal is absolutely one of those people.
A self-described "Shadowologist" and filmmaker from Belgium, Vincent specializes in an art form that is as simple as it is mind-blowingly creative: he takes everyday objects - things like a crumpled leaf, a drinking glass, or even a half-eaten apple, places them in just the right light, and then completes the image with his own artistic touch. The shadow of a pair of sunglasses turns into a couple kissing. An apple core becomes an owl perched on a branch. A simple shoe morphs into Homer Simpson's face.
It's the kind of genius that makes you shake your head and wonder: How did I never see that before?!
These 32 pieces showcase just a fraction of Vincent Bal's incredible shadow art. If you love them (and you will), you'll find even more on his Instagram—where his creativity knows no limits.
