This is something that one man had a tricky time navigating after his mom paid for him to go on a cruise with some of the rest of his family. Currently unemployed and bored of taking vacations with family members, he was reluctant to go, not least because he was trying to secure a job interview.
Eventually, he got an interview on a date when the cruise was happening, and he canceled on his mom at the last minute. She was upset that her money was being wasted, and he wondered if he had not behaved correctly.
