As any single pawrent will know, when you bring home a potential spouse, they need to pass the cat child test first before they can be allowed to stay long term. And in the minds of your cat children, this equates to considering whether they would allow you to join them on the only bit of floating material when the boat inevitably goes down. Do not try to forcibly bring your potential partner on to the flotation device, your cats will push you both off.
