Office life is usually mundane: you clock in, clock out, sit at a desk all day. You take the same route, the same buses and trains, the same lonely, sleepy faces in the morning, and the same exhausted, phone scrolling faces in the evening. Regular work in an office can be far from exciting or adventurous, but there's also beauty in stability. However, some people do have more to say about their work environment. Some work environments have that one employee who's the wild card. They say something off-handed, and next thing you know HR is on them. They may do something that has the entire office gossiping about them. If there's one thing I learned from working in an office, it's that if you tell one person one thing, the whole office is going to know, even if you think no one knows.

In the story below, the protagonist is up for a big promotion, and her competitor is keeping the office environment…interesting to say the lease. She assumes she's just being forgetful when she sees her files and other things going missing, but after being tipped off from another employee, she realizes that he's actually stealing things from her desk.

This story surprises me. I would have thought that her coworkers would take her side, seeing as he was deliberately and maliciously trying to ruin her career, steal from her, and invade her privacy. What are they talking about? He invaded her privacy first, not the other way around.

She does the right and smart thing by catching him in the act. Usually devious people like he is will never admit to their antics. If she went to him first, there's a good chance he'd probably deny doing anything like that. Because she caught him in the act on camera, now he can't deny it.
