There's a special kind of exhaustion that hits you after a really long workday. The kind where you don't even have the energy to turn on the radio for the drive home. You just sit in pure, blissful silence as you stare blankly at the road, questioning every life decision that led you here. You know it's been a rough one when even your favorite songs feel like too much noise.
As you're driving, it's inevitable that you'll pass a construction site (at least if your town is anything like mine) and think to yourself how glad you are that you're not one of them. Not in a mean way, just in the mutual understanding that no matter how hard your day was, someone else is probably still out there covered in dust and dodging traffic cones. But none of that matters now. You're in the home stretch. The only thing left to do is kick off your boots, collapse onto the couch, and do absolutely nothing for the rest of the night.
I can attest that this is true even for corporate workers.
At least there's cash for tomorrow morning's coffee run.
If you have a 4 a.m. wake up call, your boss should just be glad you're even there.
