'My roofer [is] asking for a tip on a $2,600 roof repair': 20+ Mildly infuriating moments of the week (February 7, 2025)

Let's all share our most mildly infuriating moments from the last week. I'll go first! When I was walking to work in the snow this morning, I realized that just one of my boots had a hole in it. As I shuffled along the barely shoveled sidewalks, my right boot began filling with cold, slushy water. My other foot was warm and cozy in these boots (which I only bought like, six months ago, which makes this even more mildly infuriating!). By the time I got to work, my entire right sock was soaked, and I had to spend some time sopping up all the water with paper towels until my feet finally got back to their normal temperature. Now I know that my boots are broken, and I'll have to get some new ones. I fear it is a fail.

That's a bit irritating, but the people below have had some much worse experiences lately. Speaking of things getting wet, one person parked their bike in an underground parking lot, only to discover their bike had been steadily rained on! They chose a spot just under a crack in the ceiling, so their bike was utterly drenched. Or there's the person who's fuming because they ordered a CD and it arrived broken. Why? Well, someone bent the package it was in, which read "Do not bend." Some weeks, you just can't win!

Is that really the kind of thing you tip for, though? Perhaps if the fellows do a really great job, you might slide them an extra $20 each or something. But I agree with this person that tipping through the website probably won't go to the workers, and will just end up making the company richer.
