Disney is obsessed with making meta-commentaries about its brand. It started with little one-offs, like joking about how annoying the song "It's a Small World After All" is in The Lion King (1994). Today, there's active backlash against those depictions of female characters in Disney movies, with many fans claiming that young girls shouldn't be told that falling in love is a bad thing to dream about.
