When you're a kid, it's hard to know whether your parents are unusually crazy. Your home is usually all you know, and going over to friends' houses doesn't always paint a realistic picture of how they're normally treated. You might've felt something off about your parents and later found out there actually was something nefarious simmering under the surface.
