Ahoy, swash-buckling pirates. I am going to be completely honest here, guys; I have never seen a single episode of One Piece. Wait, wait, relax! I'm working my way through the manga instead. The high episode count was incredibly daunting, and although the manga is also quite hefty with volumes, it seemed like a more approachable way to engage with the content. By the way, if you're a One Piece fan that hasn't read the manga… I highly recommend it! Oda is a total genius. 

What's worse — my first foray into the pirate universe was through the live action Netflix adaptation. Say what you will about the casting, the Netflix-y CGI, and the general weirdness that comes with attempting to adapt comic book dialogue, logic, and physics to the real world, the show was successful in recruiting new members to the Straw Hat fandom.
