Of course the engaged couple isn't obligated to invite anyone they don't want to, but what would you do in the situation? It could benefit them to just have a polite conversation with the brother about it. They could have his girlfriend come as well. How could she know she's even offending them if they never speak up and tell her? I don't think this is the right way to let her know that she's bothering them.

It does sound like the comments are pretty hurtful and unkind, but at the same time, it's a really intense decision not to invite your brother's partner to your wedding. I get that there's some tension and weird vibes, but I think it's still just the one day. Maybe this girlfriend makes the couple uncomfortable, but think about how uncomfortable the whole family and brother will be without his girlfriend? How is he supposed to enjoy the day? Family members are sure to come up to him asking him where she is.
