‘The fallout was immediate’: Woman skips brother's birthday party after her mother attempts to use her home as an event space without telling her

When you think of the concept of "home," what comes to mind?

You're likely thinking about the safe space you've created for yourself and possibly for your partner, too. When it comes to our living quarters, we ladies don't play around! We put all of our hard work into creative an idyllic space that allows us to feel soothed and tucked away from the outside world. If someone tries to threaten that peace, well… Whoever tried it needs to watch out.

The woman who posted this story found out that her home, unbeknownst to her, was the event space for her brother's surprise birthday party. The woman's mother didn't let her know until he date was extremely close, but even still, the woman made sure to let her mother know that the party wasn't happening. The woman's partner is healing from an ailment and not being clued in on a surprise that would take place at her house turned her sour.

The family is acting like she overreacted, but she stands her ground regardless. In protest, the woman refuses to attend the party at it's new location. That didn't go over well. Scroll to read.

This has “sneaky” written all over it. The woman's mother waited until the week before the party to do so little as inform her daughter that the event would be taking place in her own home with her still-healing husband. Who does that?
Even worse, the mother's overreaction to the woman's rational reaction is all you need to know. Instead of taking responsibility for her poor choices, she decides to go extra hard on her daughter for a completely normal reaction and in turn, manage to get everyone else to side with her, too.
