It is shocking that this woman keeps asking him about lunch. She seems more than delusional, especially since in the beginning of the post she mentioned that their relationship might turn into romance. He's given her no indication that he's interested, so why would she think that? Going to lunch sometimes with your coworker does not denote a romantic trajectory. She needs to understand his boundaries.

This little girl has some guts! It's not tact that she lacks, the protagonist is the one who needs to grow up and learn some tact. Instead of asking your coworker if he wants to get lunch with you while his daughter and father are visiting, assume he will get lunch with them. If you do make the silly mistake of asking and he declines, take the hint. Don't ask if he's sure. What did she expect him to say? “Oh, actually I wasn't sure and am going to ditch my daughter and father to have lunch with you.” Come on.
