Motherhood is not as easy as those Instagram moms make it look to be. Thankfully, a new generation of content-creating moms have started a bit of a trend on online platforms. These moms post side-by-side images or videos meant to show the contrast between the ideal lifestyle they want us to see and the reality of the situation. One side is titled something like, "What I post on Instagram," and show pictures of children smiling at the dinner table, toddlers enjoying themselves with a sandbox sensory bin, or a woman caressing her pregnant belly. On the other side, "What I didn't post," we see the behind-the-scenes version of those picture-perfect snapshots of motherhood: a child refusing to eat because the food had a visible speck of broccoli, toddlers spilling the sand all over the living room carpet, and a belly full of stretch marks.
