    I've never not been stressed meeting the parents for the first time and I'm a fairly social butterfly who basically could talk to a wall. My nerves turn to word vomit which turn to embarrassment much too quickly and somehow I never recover. My new rule for meeting the parents is coming prepared with some jokes that'll break the ice but keep me from rambling.

    Puns are still my favorite way to make people laugh. They are always unexpected and people are oddly fond of them. I think having a few good puns in your back pocket is an excellent way to break the ice, even with your boyfriend's mother who is judging you hard core before she even met you. 

    Telling jokes also allows you to understand the character of the recipients. If your boyfriend's parents never crack a smile, do you really want to be inducted into that type of family one day? Total energy bust. I don't know about you, but laughter is a huge part of my daily routine.
