We live in an age when many people increasingly can't or won't commit to all kinds of different things. Part of this comes from living in a society where it is increasingly difficult for the majority to plan in the long term, and part of it comes from many people being plain old commitment-phobes.

There are many criticisms to be made about why this might be and what its effects are, but it plays perfectly into an internet that is riddled with memes.
