I think these personal anecdotes are a lot more weighty reasons not to tip a server than saying, “Waiters shouldn't have to rely on tips; they should be paid enough hourly to survive.” While I agree with that sentiment, not tipping a waiter because you disagree with tipping doesn't improve that waiter's life. It makes their life worse.
