We all have that one family friend we've known since before we could talk. They were our first playmates, our second siblings. Even though we have no familial relation, we call their parents aunts or uncles. Our parents probably have pictures of us in the bathtub together that they love to bring out when they feel like embarrassing us.
With these sorts of womb-to-tomb relationships, sometimes it's hard to understand their depth as an outsider just coming into your life. We know almost everything about this person without even trying and could tell you stories for days that no one else could tell. If someone comes into your life wanting intimacy from you, this sort of knowledge your old bosom buddy has can be a bit threatening.
That's what happens in this story: OP's old family friend gets a new girlfriend, and the girlfriend becomes jealous of OP. At least, that's where this story begins.
