25 January Slump Memes for Folks Already Feeling the January Scaries

Everyone says that January is the ultimate time for reinvention—to step outside of our old habits and start anew before life starts feeling fast again. Whose idea was that?

January is one of those months that seem to drone on for five years… Pair that with the post-holiday season blues and you have millions of exhausted people looking to simply make it through the month. Plus: it's really cold. How can anyone be productive in cold weather that basically seduces us to stay inside, eat junk food, and binge-watch the new season of Squid Game?

We've almost made it through 10 days of the "year-long" stint January seems to have. Yeah yeah, this is supposed to be the time when we're hitting the gym, reading self-help books, and finally picking up a hobby. But, if you don't want to do that, that's fine too. The short-lived knitting hobby can wait until February and the gym will still be there in March. I, for one, am prioritizing my sanity this January, and you should too.

The worst part about January as an adult is that life keeps moving. Instead of the exciting winter break we thankfully had as children, the corporate wheels keep turning, and the 9-5 mocks our post-holiday re-adjustment period in the workplace. Things could be worse… Like leaving the office in the dark. Oh wait—we do that, too!
That's why it's really important to take care of yourself this month without pushing yourself too hard. There's such a thing as wearing yourself too thin, and in January, we haven't regenerated the thick skin we had back in December.
Luckily, we're 22 days out from February, and those 28 days happen to fly by much quicker than the first month of the year. I don't think I could've handled a leap year this year…
