When I was a kid, and first read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I could not understand how everyone in the wizarding world was so convinced that Harry and Dumbledore were lying about Voldemort's return. All the evidence was right there! How could they ignore it?

However, when I read the books now, as an adult, I don't actually know if I would have believed Harry if I had been there myself. Sure, he saved the wizarding world and has no reason to lie, but I also understand the need to shield yourself from bad news and convince yourself they are not real. And boy oh boy, did Harry deliver bad news people wanted to believe was false. That being said, I do not support how Harry was treated while everyone thought he was lying, and I am a proud member of the 'Umbridge is the Most Hated Character in the Series' club. But that is a discussion for another day.
