Everyone has their own insecurities. Some are rational, or based on a traumatic experience, and some aren't. Some people had a partner cheat with an ex, or an ex was a huge issue in the relationship. In my experience, I've been friends with exes years after dating, and I know it caused some tension when my ex did finally meet someone to be with for life. Every situation is different, but it's about talking as a couple and rolling with the punches.
