There's a big difference between kids waiting until 8:30 to open presents and 10. Most kids on Christmas wake up sometime between 5-7 AM, and asking them to wait an hour before their parent is ready is pretty standard. I understand that it can be hard to say no at this age, but he wouldn't be saying no; he'd be saying, “Wait.”
