Do you remember how exciting it was to wait for a new Harry Potter book or film to come out?
I remember when the 7th book came out, it was the first time I truly understood what it was like to be a part of a fandom, and how crazy the life inside one can be. I went with my sister, also a huge Harry Potter nerd, and we camped outside of Barnes and Noble, waiting outside all night. Our parents made sure we had everything we needed – snacks, foldable chairs, blankets, books, and fully charged cell phones, and we sat there with other Potterheads, and we talked all night about what we think will happen in the last book.
Everyone there was so excited about this book, and we all got to share our favorite experiences from reading the series. It's hard to explain, but it felt like a close community, and a special bond was being formed. I still keep in touch with some of the lovely fans I met in all these lovely fandom events, and I cherish all the magical moments we shared together.
