When you rewatch the Lord of the Rings movies (because duh, we all do it every now and then), do you rewatch The Hobbit movies too? Do you go back and watch the 1978 animated version? Do you watch Rings of Power? Do you re-read all of the books?
Where do we, as completionists, draw the line on enjoying the Lord of the Rings universe? Middle Earth has no beginning or end, especially if you're Tom Bombadil, but for mere mortals who simply want to enjoy every facet of Tolkien's universe, there is a limit to the number of hours we have to block off for entertainment purposes... And all of them go to LOTR.
True fans enjoy the world of elves, men, orcs, and dwarves as often as possible, immersing themselves in the Forbidden Pool guarding the entrance of Henneth Annûn and climbing mountains towards Fangorn Forest. Our reality isn't as lovely as the Middle Earthian universe Tolkien created, and thus, fans will occasionally delve greedily and deep into this world, escaping ours with a cup of Baggins tea and a loaf of good Lembas. Perhaps, in these colder winter months when we find it hard to go outside, hunker down and have a binge-day for once. Order takeout, watch all the movies, and give yourself the fantastical break you so desperately deserve. For your burdens in the real world pale in comparison to the One Ring of power and something about that is very comforting. Sail on into the horizon towards the Undying Lands in Valinor and put on a LOTR marathon.
