My favorite Christmas song is the 'pew pew' sound me and my cousins made while we played with our new Star Wars toys. Freshly unwrapped and still smelling of pine needles, the Obi-Wan action figure came right out of the mint packaging, straight into our wee-childlike hands, and onto our imaginary play boards.
Back when the Star Wars movies were still new, this was the way us kids had a great time.
With epic lightsaber battles, flying X-Wings, and the villainous Jabba the Hutt (the family cat) guarding the princess in his lair, tiny Star Wars fans solidified their most perfect Christmas memories with some holiday playtime. As the parents mingled over soft cheese, panettone, and spiked Christmas punch, we tore open our Star Wars toys and had the time of our lives. In the 80s, playtime was just a lot more fun. Keep scrolling for a trip down memory lane to enjoy some archival snapshots of the best Christmas mornings sprinkled with some nerdy geek toys that we can all appreciate.
