19-year-old student returns the favor after being awoken at 4 AM by roommate loudly returning home from parties: 'She woke up, and yelled at me for being loud'

Rooming with other people for the first time in the twilight years of your teens and early twenties is a grab bag of experiences. No one has any idea how to best properly live life yet (not that we ever figure that one—if someone reading this has, please let me know), and everything is constantly changing around them. Decisions are made on the fly, with consequences being an afterthought. You might meet someone one week and hit it off, deciding to room for an entire year the next week—oh, what fun that will be! Except for a few weeks into the living arrangement, it's clear that you're not a good match. The bright early days of the friendship have lost their luster, and it's becoming increasingly clear that this person is inconsiderate of you and your space, and you increasingly can't stand their presence. What's worse, they're bringing a parade of loosely aquatinted strangers into your space during their late-night and early-morning escapades, and you're reaching the point where something has to give.

This 19-year-old student shared this exact conflict that was brewing between her and her roommate, who had repeated late nights and early mornings during which she was coming home from parties and clubs, waking up the student and disturbing her much-needed rest for her studies. This experience will speak to a great many of us who have been in exactly this living situation at some point in our lives. Maybe we even were the disaster roommate ourselves and a little hindsight and wisdom has caused us to realize how misguided we were at some point in our lives.
