If homeowner's associations exist for one purpose, it's to get even with your local neighborhood Karen! Here, we have a new resident in a suburban neighborhood with a strict HOA, who asked her next-door neighbor if she could use his trash cans for pickup while she waited for her own can to get delivered.
Cut to one month later, and this lady was still using her neighbor's trash cans, so much so that the bins were frequently overflowing. This was a clear violation of the HOA policies, and the neighbor brought this up to the Karen out of fear of getting unjustly fined. He told her that if the top of the bin could not close, she would have to hold onto her trash (or perhaps finally get her own bin!).
Of course, the Karen turned out to be incapable of following this very simple and clear instruction, so when the neighbor saw one day that his bins were overflowing yet again, he dumped her trash bags onto his porch. Little did he know, the Karen had just gone out of town for a full week, so her disgusting trash bags were left on her porch to rot for the next seven days, resulting in a ton of HOA fines. That's what you get for refusing to respect your new neighbors, lady!
