For some reason, having a lot of cats as companions somehow becomes a sad outcome for life, so people fear it, instead of realizing just how great cats are and how they are truly the purrfect roommates for life.
While I am not single, I did bring two cats into the relationship when I first met my boyfriend. In full honesty, he was a bit weirded out by it, but he quickly fell in love with them and he now cares for them more than he cares for me. Still, even if he wasn't around, I would not have a problem coming across as a 'crazy cat lady', because my cats are awesome, and I love having them around.
