There is only one reasonable way to get back at a micromanager, and that is to make them regret breathing down your neck. Here, we have a new high school principal who decided that he needed to approve every little idea this science teacher had for lab experiments. This approval process would go far beyond a quick email or conversation to run something by the principal. In fact, the micromanager expected to go through all lesson plans prior to approval.
This, of course, is extremely frustrating to any instructor who would have to take the time to draft full lesson plans that might not even get approved while balancing that with their current workload. As always, let's take this opportunity to give a shout-out to all educators who have to put up with this bureaucratic nonsense.
Thankfully, this science teacher was not having it, and since they enjoyed drafting up pages and pages of nonsensical educational jargon, they submitted extensive lesson plans for the micromanaging principal to go through just to make him regret his insistence upon enforcing this approval process. The best part is that there were a number of complaints about this guy from other instructors as well, ultimately resulting in his voluntary dismissal.
