Say you knew one of your colleagues was about to get fired, and then you got fired yourself. You can choose to tell that colleague that they are about to be fired, so they can at least be better prepared for the day they will suddenly find themselves unemployed. The decision to tell them is completely up to you, having nothing to gain from it other than to help someone out.
