Today I was hit with the harsh reality that my streaming subscription had lapsed. And how did I discover this tragic oversight? By attempting to stream Return of the King for the umpteenth time, only to be asked to pay for it. That's absurd! I already own that movie in every conceivable format. There's the DVD set (both theatrical and extended editions), the Blu-ray collection (theatrical and extended editions), and the 4K Blu-ray (extended edition only, of course). I even shelled out for the 4K digital version on iTunes, just in case.
Why do I need so many copies? Honestly, I don't. But whenever The Lord of the Rings is offered, something primal awakens in me—a deep, inescapable compulsion to own it. It's mine, my own… my precious! So, after this existential crisis, I renewed my subscription. Gandalf would approve of my redundancy.
