Pets love the darndest things. I've had pets who were obsessed with digging used menstrual products out of the trash and bringing them into the backyard, as well as others who only wanted to play with classic dog products like ham bones and squeaky toys. Pets do not care that you don't want them to rip apart the blanket your aunt spent 3 months knitting for you…all they care about is playing and having fun their way.
Sometimes, a pet will find a toy that becomes their best friend in an irreplaceable, little kid, lovey way. That's exactly what happened to the cat at the center of this story. He grew deeply attached to an old-school My Little Pony toy, the kinds with the plastic bodies and brushable hair. After his favorite pony had been destroyed (a funeral was held), his mom asked her local community if anyone had a pony that could replace his precious one. Luckily, the community delivered.
