If your boyfriend proposed at The Cheesecake Factory or Olive Garden, would you say yes?

Whether you're from a small town and consider Olive Garden a fancy experience, or you're from the big city and have never set foot in one, I'd like you to consider what you'd do if your partner proposed to you at a casual dining chain. Would you say no just because you think the venue is wrong? Proposals are one of those things that should be thoroughly discussed beforehand, because you really don't want to mess them up. Look at how Carrie and Aiden turned out! He had no idea how to propose to her, and it soured their whole relationship!

If you know that you and your partner are not the types who would consider The Cheesecake Factory a luxurious night out, you should not propose there. Even if you both have a sense of humor, a jokey proposal does not bode well. I think all of Gen Z has gotten that out of our system with promposals; we don't need to ironically put a wedding band on a mozzerella stick now that we're 27.

I really don't think there's anything wrong with considering a trip to Chili's, Applebee's, or Olive Garden a fancy night out with your family. Heck, I'd venture that most Americans see such a venture as a special treat. I think it's wrong to look down on people who don't have access to Michelin-star-worthy international cuisine within a 20-mile radius. If you're the kind of couple who wouldn't think twice about a marriage proposal at The Cheesecake Factory, then who am I (a single NYC transplant with an addiction to adult rec sports leagues ) to look down on you for that.
