We can all probably remember those peaceful weekend mornings, sun filtering through the basement playroom windows, curled up on the couch with our favorite bowl of way-too-sugary cereal that we had to beg our parents to buy. That cereal might as well have been gold; we certainly thought it was worth its weight as we shoveled it into our mouths while watching our morning cartoons. My parents, however, never showed an interest in eating this cereal themselves. Something about stale marshmallows and really overhyped Cheerios just wasn't all that appealing to them—go figure. Even if it were something that was appealing to them, something that was actually good, they probably would have just left it to my sister and me to eat: a selflessness on their part. And when you're a parent, sometimes that's just what you have to do; you can't go around constantly worrying about what you do or don't contribute and why you think you're entitled to your kids' cereal.
Of course, this is how this dad acted when he decided to help himself to a huge bowl of his daughter's favorite cereal. This, in turn, earned him a telling off from his wife, who called him "selfish," prompting his own outburst in response. Frustrated, his wife turned to this online community to see whether or not she was wrong for making an issue of it and commenting on his big bowl of cereal in front of their daughter.
