There's something about texting that can wash away the shame of the questions you're asking. Think about it…if you look through your old texts, I'm sure you've sent messages you'd be ashamed to say aloud. I'm not just talking about those kinds of texts; I'm talking about any texts. Sometimes, I read back messages I've sent and thought, "What was I thinking?" I'm also known to wait for millennia before sending out a "risky text," just to finally do it and turn off my phone in shame about what I asked. Sending words without tone indicators can be highly stressful.
It's easy to feel insecure about your texts, but I'd venture to say that most of us aren't entirely socially inept regarding our texting. Most of us aren't texting our estranged children thrice a week asking for money, but then again, most of us aren't sending the most memorable parenting texts of the week.
