My first computer was a Commodore 64 that I managed to convince my parents to buy by promising it would help with my studies. Naturally, I used it exclusively for playing video games. A few years later, I talked them into getting an IBM 286, convincing my dad that it would boost his productivity and help him get much more done in less time. Once again, I was the only one who used it, and yes—it was strictly for gaming. This cycle repeated every few years, each time with me promising all sorts of benefits, yet somehow each computer ended up dedicated to games.
Fast forward to now, I'm 48 years old, buying my own computers, and writing this on my monstrous gaming PC, which I'm using exclusively for work. Being an adult really does take the fun out of things sometimes!
