It has to be said that these days, we live in an extremely commitment-phobic society. People change jobs at the drop of a hat or are forced to look for new ones because companies do layoffs so often. Wannabe lovers find themselves stuck in the endless cycle of 'talking stages' and situationships and those that do couple up insist on years upon years of dating and cohabiting before thinking about marriage (if that's something that they want). And this is before we even get to the thorny topic of having kids.
Arguably, memes are a symptom of a world where solid attention spans and decisive actions seem to be becoming an increasing rarity. While they aren't usually designed for deep contemplation, I'd suggest that giving them a little more time than usual is an enjoyable small rebellion against an unwillingness to commit. It's not going to change anything major, but it could be fun.
