When you've been working at a company for a while, you start getting the hang of things. You know what to do and what absolutely not to do when it comes to your day-to-day tasks.
Some companies are unaware that when they hire a new employee, they may hire someone who can't seem to get off their arrogant high horse. In turn, this employee's inability to adapt to company policy and culture will have a negative effect on other employees' performances. This is true especially when they think they know the company they've been at for five seconds more than their well-seasoned coworkers.
The employee in this Reddit story works in a customer support position at a tech company. His new supervisor, who the original poster (OP) expresses is full of himself, told the employee to stick to a strict phone script when he's troubleshooting clients' issues.
So, that's exactly what he did. What the supervisor didn't know, is that the OP would soon get a call from one of their top client's CEO who's having rather unique issues. Stick to the script, you say? The OP says, "I go through the script, step-by-painful-step." To say the client loses their patience is an understatement. Scroll below to read the full story.
