I took my kids for their first-ever pumpkin carving this week, and it went about as well as you'd expect. My youngest was so excited that we handed him a knife that he practically committed pumpkin homicide, gleefully hacking away with pure enthusiasm. Meanwhile, my eldest got way too ambitious and tried to recreate an elaborate "Among Us" pumpkin he saw on YouTube. Unfortunately, the end result didn't quite match his expectations, so he ended up snapping a picture of my pumpkin and sending it to all his friends. They, of course, were not impressed. Hey, I never claimed to be a pumpkin-carving expert.
The only pumpkin that looked remotely decent was, unsurprisingly, my wife's. She seemed to carve effortlessly while the three of us blundered through our own chaotic attempts. But hey, even though I might not know my way around a pumpkin, Halloween remains my favorite holyday.
