It's not easy working in hospitality—for some reason, there are entitled people out there who think that since you work at a hotel that they are paying to stay at, they now OWN you. It's ridiculous. Just show a little empathy and human decency maybe? Unfortunately, these Karens, both male and female, don't seem to have the mental or emotional capacity to understand how a society works. Instead, their hubris and entitlement are like an explosion.
Many employees who deal with these types of people tend to work at the front desk of a hotel. Here, you can very easily come face-to-face with a Karen mid-tantrum. It's pretty wild—like watching a nature documentary. In this case, the front desk employee was working a particularly difficult week. The entire town was booked up due to a large event and it was chaos at the hotel. Luckily, she had a quick pick-me-up to get her through her shift when a strange who was an employee at a different hotel called her up. It's normal for other hotels to call to see if you have vacancies to point other guests to, what was abnormal was the rant that followed. The employee on the other end of the phone went off about the crazy guests she had been having. It made the employee feel validated and that she wasn't alone in this crazy Karen-filled world. Let's normalize calling similar establishments just to vent!
