Apollo gets it. As we creep into the autumnal months, the ground goes cold, crisp leaves start to fall, the air is chilly, and sometimes we revel in the memory of sunshine. It's in those moments, that I think of Apollo, gazing up at the cosmos and wondering how close he could fly to the sun. Regrettably, that turned this ambitious demigod into a crispy piece of man-bacon, but I understand the allure.
Greek mythology teaches us about life and the world, perhaps in a grotesque or arbitrated way. Sure, we're no longer getting chase by an evil goose or fighting pomegranate fruit temptations from the underworld, but the message remains deeply ingrained in the lore of humanity. So as the Greeks dabbled with philosophy and wrapped their head around the plight of life using stories and stars, in 2024 do the same, resurrecting the tales of man in the form of a silly meme. Come with me, fellow historian, and scroll through the memeified tapestries of Greek myth.
