Olivia the Gentle Monkey Raises a Litter of Abandoned Kittens, Earnestly Accepting Her Role as the Kitten's MEOWther From Another Species (VIDEO)

Monkeys are smart. Sometimes a little too smart. For those of us who have watched Planet of the Apes and still worry about the chimpanzees getting loose at the zoo, we know that monkeys and apes are not to be trifled with. However, their smarts can also translate into wholesome kindness. They understand empathy and compassion, mercifully handling smaller, weaker critters with the utmost care. 

Take, for instance, this video of a monkey that's gone viral. Olivia the capuchin has since become best friends with a litter of abandoned kittens. Gently stroking the blind, trembling babies, Olivia helped raise, bottle-feed, and cuddle these kittens after they were left on the side of the road in a box. Olivia stepped up and has become these kitties' new mama.
