Teachers nowadays are expected to wear a lot of hats–and not in the fun way that you'd expect.
Being a teacher means that you're a part-time parent, a babysitter, and an educator all wrapped up in a complicated, rule-bound package. With a curriculum to follow, angry parents to please, and a tenured principal ignoring your emails, it's tough to even imagine tending to a 40-kid class. So when parents roll up to a parent-teacher conference with disgruntled looks on their faces, any teacher might feel a moment of apprehension–but normally you don't see your star pupil's parents looking upset.
This teacher was shocked when the parents of their favorite student, a kid earning straight A's in their 5th-grade math class, came to their PT meeting.
