This is a good strategy for getting out of work early, but you see, it will require work in itself. To begin with, you have to lay some groundwork. First, mentioning you hung out with someone sick the night before. Then you throw a couple of coughs and sneeze in someone's coffee. And after lunch you go full pelt, sniffling, coughing and pretending you are running a fever. If all goes well, you are out the door by 3pm with a full day's pay.

While this might not directly get you out of work early, it might have a knock-on effect which will get you out early. Imagine the case that you are being perpetually woken up like this, or at least that is what you tell people. Then you start randomly falling asleep in the office. While filing your water, while giving a presentation and while going through a poor performance review. Then you might be able to sneak out early 'to catch up on sleep'.
