You can't just show up to a hotel and demand a room. That's not how anything works! But that doesn't stop some hotel guests from trying that anyway.
Travel mishaps do happen, and many hospitality workers will go above and beyond to try and make their guests' stays as pleasant as possible. But sometimes guests ask for things that are so unreasonable that they really can't be helped. Hotel dates get mixed up often, and it's not always an easy fix, especially during the busy seasons each year. However, hotel workers are known to go the extra mile to help their guests by calling other branches of the hotel chains or managing to find a guest a room in a different hotel entirely. Still, it all depends on the attitude of the guest. If you treat the hotel staffer with kindness, you'll get that in return. If you interrupt them and keep insisting on help after they've exhausted all their possibilities, well, that might not work out so well for you.
